Testimonial by Anonymous: Subject: To anyone considering the centre

After attending [serenity Ranch] in November 2006, I am compelled to send this note for anyone considering the Centre in dealing with their alcohol problems. After drinking for over 30 years, alcohol had become a significant problem in my life, affecting my employment, relationships and health. Like most people that find themselves at the Central Alberta Recovery Centre, I was skeptical and not completely a willing participant, but I reluctantly agreed to participate in the program for the sake of those close to me, and as one last attempt to get my life back in order. I had serious reservations as to what the Centre could do for me and was pleased to learn, early in the program, that many of my preconceived notions were completely unfounded. The thought of spending five weeks away from my family and every thing else I was comfortable with seemed to be large commitment to a program that I did not really understand. Within a short time I found the program to be extremely important to me and by the time I left I realized what a very small investment it was to regain control of the rest of my life, clean and sober.

During the five weeks I spent in the program I received the guidance and instruction of a very devoted and compassionate team of councilors and support staff. The program provided me with new tools and approaches to old problems and while some were quite simple I was pleased with how effective they were. When I left the Centre I was asked if

I would miss the friends I had made in the program and I said I would take them all with me in the memories I had of a short, but very important, chapter in my life. I am now back at work and surrounded by my family and friends, which in itself is quite amazing considering my previous options. It has been a relatively short time since I left the Centre but I am convinced that as long as I use the tools I learned and stick with my personal program I can continue with a happy and meaningful life.

I now believe that if a person is at a point of considering attending the Central Alberta Recovery Centre, they probably should. I have never done any type of testimonial for a product or service before, but for someone who is in the situation I found my self in, if I can provide any words of encouragement I will. I know that this program is very confidential and I respect that but I will leave my name and point of contact with the Center. If anyone has any questions for "someone who has been there" please feel free to contact me.
