"I came into Serenity Ranch fairly well strung out and crazed for the first week or so.  The withdrawal symptoms were extremely uncomfortable and I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin and go berserk.  I was also seriously afraid that if anyone looked at me sideways or said anything to set me off, I would come unglued onto them.  And not in a good way!  Thankfully I was fortunate enough to land with a great group of people that were in there for the same problems as me.  In my individual group there were 3 other guys, also with a lot of experience in the oilfield business and lifestyle.  They alternated between being entertained by me and having to laugh even though they tried not to; and wanting to punch out my lights.  In the first few days I was an absolute mess, but slowly started to come around with the love and support of my new friends.  Some of these friendships I will treasure for the rest of my life.  With their help and care I gradually saw I really wasn't a bad person, it was the things that I did on drugs and booze that I was not proud of.  I saw how I was not able to be there for my loved ones and cheated them out of my time with them, (using/drinking and hung over).  With all the educational tools, insightful discussions,  NA/AA meetings at night, and supportive friendships, I steadily began to feel like I was getting back the old Rob who I hadn't seen in years.  It was a great feeling!
 
Serenity Ranch has a recovery rate of over 50% which is higher than anywhere else in the country and I know why.  The program they have set up is holistic in the sense that they focus on all parts of the person, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.  Along with the great counseling and support they provide I wholeheartedly recommend it for treatment.  Their staff is fully qualified and can relate as they have all come from backgrounds of addiction and know the way through to true Recovery.  It may not be the Ritz or have a mountain and ocean view, but it is the right place to find true Serenity and how to hang onto it."
