How is Methadone Treatment therapy used at Serenity Ranch?
Methadone Treatment is allowed at Serenity Ranch however we ask that you make arrangements for this before hand. We are the only treatment centre in Alberta that allows Methadone patients and one of only a few in Canada.

While methadone is not for all addicts wanting to get off opiates like ox-contain or morphine, for those who have been habitually unable to stay off opiates it can offer hope. You can get your life back in order and learn skills to cope with your addiction without the overwhelming cravings that may have in the past lead to relapse.
In most cases it is better to "just quit and get it over with"(under the care of a detox centre or treatment centre).
Methadone is taken once a day in the form of a mixture with juice. One takes the dose under supervision either at serenity Ranch or a pharmacy.
Methadone keeps the withdrawal symptoms and most cravings at bay without the euphoric effects of morphine (it will not get you high).
